About me: Hello, my name is Joseph Francis. I am a german soldier. I didn't really want to fight in this war, but I was drafted.
I miss my wife and children. I think of them everyday. This is a picture of myself and my best friend, Surge. http://www.hqusareur.army.mil/htmlinks/Press_Releases/2005/Aug2005/levine.jpg
Blog 1: I can't wait until I get out of this war, even though it just started when you I think about it. I'm expecting it to not take so long. I mean afterall, the war is not our fault. Atleast I believe that. I'm not sure on other country's opinions. I don't care, I just want to get home to my family. They're the only reason I'm in this war. Is to protect them.
Why was my nation involved in WWI? December 8th, 2008.
My nation, Germany, was involved in WWI for many reasons. The main reason Germany was involved in WWI was because Germany and France both wanted the control over the country Morocco. Germany's main weapon was the machine gun. Once the machine gun became available, Germany quickly took hold of the weapon. Germany and Great Britian were competing for the strongest army. So that is another reason why Germany is involved, because we glorified ourselves in our very strong military.
Germany joined the war also because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This attack was so uncalled for, Germany felt the need to attack. And why wouldn't we? I think personally, the Black Hand had no right to kill that innocent man. Their original plan had failed. They had planned to bomb the Archduke, but it was simply at the wrong time. So, one of the members were at the right place, and shot the Archduke and his wife on the way to the hospital, because the driver had made a wrong turn. Austra-Hungary was in this war. And if they're in it, we're in it. So let this war begin.
Our battle plans. December 15th, 2008.
If we hold off Russia, I know we can defeat France. France is a stronger country, that's why we're going to attack France and hold off Russia. Russia is easier to hold off. The only problem is, Russia is more industrialized, so they will definitely be harder to defeat. Another of our battle plans was to grasp hold of the machine gun as quickly as possible. And we did. This was, to me, one of the biggest helps. The machine guns led to what we used most of the time, trenches. Trenches were our main use of power.
Blog 2: I'm so thankful that my country took hold of the machine gun because I miss my family, and I believe the machine gun would've protected me the most, but most importantly, my family. I love them dearly. Today I watched some of my best men die. I couldn't believe it. I really miss them. My best bet is to just pray, God will help me through this.
Propaganda Poster. December 15h, 2008.
This poster is advertising war. It's asking the simple question, who's missing? This poster expects you to realize that you're missing from the war, and you should join. They really want you to join war and help your country. The propaganda technique that this poster uses is "catchy slogans." I believe this is a catchy slogan because I can imagine a commercial or anything really that has this saying in it.
Blog 3: This poster made me really think about the war and why I joined. Especially after realizing that my family wasn't safe. They are the most important thing in my life, and I really couldn't let anyone harm my family. This gave me encouragement to be strong for them. The Allies better watch out!
How did Russia's exiting of the war and the USA's entrance affect Germany's chance of winning? December 15th, 2008.
Russia leaving the war was a great thing for us. We signed a treaty with them, because they knew they would get demolished. Russia was a weak country though. But the USA entering might be a problem for us. We shouldn't of sank their ship though, I do believe that was the wrong thing to do, and I do believe it's our fault for USA being in the war, and we might be in trouble.
Blog 4: I can't believe how far we've come in this war, and then the USA comes along. I do think it was our fault though. But I don't think they should have entered the war. Although if they haven't, we probably would've attacked them first. I just hope I'll be okay. I should be, my faith is getting stronger. I'm hoping the war is coming to an end soon. I just want to see my family again.
Treaty of Versailles, January 5th, 2008.
In June 1919, we signed the Treaty of Versailles. My country is very upset about the treaty. We're forced to sign it, we have no other choice. We have to pay reparations, which are damages due to war, which was a total of $30 billion. We had to take all the blame for war, and return Alsace and Lorraine back to it's original owner, France. We also got stripped of our oversea colonies.
Blog 5: My last and final word. I was hoping and praying that the war would end soon, and it has. But the only problem is, Germany has to take blame. I can't believe we have to pay so much for war damages. How are we going to come up with $30 billion, and keep our lives sustained? I don't know exactly. I'm hoping to get through this. I don't care what I have to go through at home. I'm just happy to be coming home and seeing my family. I'll always be their hero.
